    10 Steps to Building Your PromoWare™
    Electronic Sales Information Binder and PromoLink Update Site

    1. Needs Assessment
      • What are all the sources of information that need to reach the field?
      • Where can you find the greatest efficiencies in leveraging technology?
      • How can you integrate the information into a single resource?

    2. Functionality / Content
      • What functions / content do you want to make available? Leave out? Why?
      • Provide your promotion agencies with specs for future submissions

    3. Navigation
      • Design friendly interface that allows for multiple access routes to data
      • Decide how you want the field to think about promotions and lead them
        through the cost accounting procedures to verify viability of plans
      • Provide ability to create presentations on the fly with all available data

    4. Design and Layout
      • Create the look and feel of the laptop user interface and web site (colors, graphics, etc.)
      • Create the pages, sequence and add hotlinks between complimentary pages
        (e.g. order forms and pricing database)

    5. Program It
      • XHTML, Java, JavaScript, Perl, MySQL, CSS, Linux
      • All the cool stuff

    6. Test – Test - Test
      • Beta group to represent all types of users
      • Make adjustments
      • Go to a larger Beta test
      • Incorporate the feedback

    7. Launch It!
      • Go live to the entire user population

    8. Keep it Fresh
      • Update your site and salespeople with the "Latest Stuff"

    9. Ask for Feedback
      • Be sure the users are getting what they need

    10. Refine for Continuous Improvement
      • Keep making improvements and upgrades
